A quick word

I said I'd say a quick work for good old MJ, Wacko, Mike, or by his actual real name... Michael Jackson.

I wont go on too much or try and make out I was such a die hard fan, but like everything in life you don't know what you've got till it's gone.... and we had his music and his talent. His music we'll always have and his talent, well in recent years that didn't shine but who knows if it would have shined again. I guess we'll never know now.

In recent years like many the only time I heard anything about Michael Jackson was via the news/net/print. A new story on a new nose, a new baby, or new supposed 13 year old male lover...

It's only since his passing and the amount of air time he's got of late on both radio and tv with the likes of MTV, VH1 etc that you can take into account this mans body of work. WOW, WOW, WOW. It seems it was so easy to forget just how many songs I actually loved of his and the memories that go along with them.

I doubt there would be anyone my age out there that wouldn't have numerous memories related to his music especially in childhood years. Like tell me one person out there that didn't "do" the moonwalk with their mates. That silly walking backwards "it's the moonwalk" thing.

One of my earliest memories was when I lived in Rathmines. I was around 3 at the time and I still remember clearly dancing with my sisters to the BAD album that was played on repeat almost on the record player. Even silly things like the inside of the record sleeve had him in various different dance poses and me and my sisters trying to copy them.

That's all I have to say, MJ YOU WERE A TOTAL LEGEND.

Take a look at this. It's breathtaking and cool as shitttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeee lol

Signs

Ok so last Wednesday I was out for dinner before the cinema. We all got talking about places we'd like to go and see. I was talking about the usual places I've wanted to go see and one of them was Angkor Wat, Cambodia.

Fast forward to Saturday and I was in Easons (book/stationery shop) buying a magazine and what did I see on the shelf only the National Geographic with Angkor Wat on the cover. Now the National Geographic isn't a magazine I'd really buy but when I saw the cover I said feck it I'd buy it.

Anyway on my way home I took it out of it's plastic covering and noticed at the end of the cover it had details of four other articles inside. "Garrison Keillor Goes to the Fair" "Divided in Serbia" "Land of the Lord of the Rings" and Dining with Devilfish".

Now it was the Land of the Lord of the Rings that caught my eye, as I knew the Lord of the rings was filmed in New Zealand. Low and behold when I went to the article inside there was a big spread on the Tongariro National Park, one of the places I happen to be visiting while I'm in New Zealand.

Isn't that a bit mad... like a place I hope to visit and a place I am visiting in the one magazine and a magazine I like never buy at that.

I may buy it more often now...

20/09/2009

OK in short I'm off to Australia and New Zealand via Singapore. My original plan a few months back as I mentioned was re-visit NYC and go to two other places in the States I haven't yet visited.

The more I thought about it though I just felt like I had OD'd a tad on the US in recent years. So with this I said while I'm willing and able, I'd do something different. I was originally thinking Japan as I posted a few blogs back but I said to myself if I'm going that far it'd be a shame not to go to the number one place I've wanted to visit, why not go to the place I've wanted to see for longer, and that place was New Zealand !!!! So the 20/09 my journey begins.

I will be in Sydney first for a bit before moving onto Auckland, NZ. I thought I deserved a treat so I went all out on both the flights and accommodation.

In Sydney I'll be staying here, slumming it in my 5 star hotel located in the heart of the city in the district known as "The Rocks". Walking distance to The Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour/Bridge and the Botanic Gardens.

When I first get to New Zealand I arrive in Auckland and I will again be slumming it here. It's a two bedroom suite in the heart of CBD and long side Queen Street. It effectively is a luxury apartment, it even has it's own kitchen !!.

As for now that's all the accommodation I've sorted as I still have August and half of September to sort it. I'm sure the places I do pick, will be better the two hell holes I'm subjecting myself staying in above....

I have to say the one thing I really do pride myself on is the travel I've done in my short years. While many people have done a lot more, I've done a fair share for my short years without taking a year out and the likes. Also all the travel I've done, I've done it all by my own accord and from my own pocket.

Some people have the good fortune to be able to take a year off after school, college or work to go travel. For me this was never an option financially. Some people are lucky enough to get to see the world through work. Some people (brats) do it from handouts from money given to them easy, "daddies credit card" and the likes.

I've done it all by myself. Something I'm proud of and something I hope to continue.

Simply Amazing
